RIP Julia Child

Julia Child was without a doubt the best at showing how cooking well is an accessible endeavor. Every TV chef owes her a huge debt. Her shows occasionally took a detour when something didn't quite work as expected, and she was easily lampooned, but she had a great sense of humor and a real love of cooking. Her books and shows were always very accessible, literate and erudite, yet they were fun to read and watch. Even an all-thumbs sort like me picked up enough tips and techniques from the show to turn me into a semi-credible cook. Julia was a patriot as well, volunteering for the OSS to do her bit in World War II. A very classy lady. Bon appetit!
